Problem Statement

The world is facing multiple and diverse issues on all fronts. From child abuse to health issues to natural disasters. Often, support systems and solutions already exist. But they are fragmented and hard to find or use. Similarly, the citizens that could -- and want to! -- help their neighbours, do not have the tools and knowledge to easily engage. That's what we wish to change!

Users and functionalities

User categories:

  • citizens (need help)
  • volunteers (want to help and/or contribute to app's database)
  • NGO workers (want to review reports and assign tasks to volunteers or other NGO workers)

Scope

Based on an existing MVP, build a web or mobile app that helps citizens find support or report a problem, and helps volunteers make impactful changes in their area. Use a combination of a community-built knowledge base and LLM AI tech to make the app as easy to use as possible.

The app should allow citizens to:

  • Ask the app for help with an emergency or problem, and receive specific steps (based on their location) to help resolve it, taken from the knowledge base or AI generated response
  • Report a problem to be handled by NGOs or government agencies
  • Find and apply for government support programs
  • Find out how to help others, converting citizens into volunteers

The app should allow volunteers to:

  • Propose additions and edits to existing content, including adding and updating service points (e.g. hospitals, legal support) and problem response protocols
  • Receive, claim and respond to issue reports in their area
  • Communicate with NGO workers or government staff on an issue
  • Respond to crisis situations around the world

The app should be:

  • Multi-lingual;
  • As simple to use as possible, including via voice for citizens and volunteers with low literacy;
  • Extendable, allowing NGOs and governments to join the platform by defining new issue types, importing services, and contributing to the knowledge base of problem response protocols;

Estimated Impact

External impact: We plan to deploy ASAP to at least 10 countries, selected to ensure diversity of cultures, languages, and predominant social issues. As a result we project to reach and activate at least 100K citizens and volunteers within 6 months from launch, each using the app to solve personal or community issues.
